THE RENAISSANCE

It is something that revolutionized us globally. It was the rebirth of art, technology and knowledge. The Renaissance occurred from the 13th century to the 17th century. It began in Italy and spread to the rest of Europe.  Through the new ideas generated from the Renaissance, the world became a different place.

There are different writings from the Renaissance that shows us how many were convinced that there was nothing else left to discover in the world. However, one man called Galileo Galilei discovered something completely new! Through his newly improved telescope, he was able to uncover the truth about our solar system. He helped the people of the past finally reject the idea that the Earth was the center of the universe. He was also able to prove that the Earth's moon was not a flat smooth surface but covered with craters. He was a man who changed the foundation of the world's knowledge of astronomy.

Another person who made a significant impact during this time was Isaac Newton. One day, Newton saw an apple fall. He wondered about what made the apple fall towards the Earth and the forces behind it. That was when he discovered gravity. Gravity is a force that attracts objects to one another based on their mass. Gravity gives an object with mass a certain weight, causing them to fall to the ground when dropped. That definition would not be known by us if Newton didn't investigate and interrocate what made that apple fall to the ground.

Geniuses of the Renaissance like Galileo and Newton provided  people more scientific knowledge to have a more logical and accurate view the world. Previous to that people had relied completely on church leaders to dictate their understanding of science and the world around them. This was a significant change in tersm of human knowledge and thinking.

William Shakespeare is another significant figure form the Renaissance period.  Through his plays he expanded the vocabulary of the English language. We have a lot of funny insults we can use too! (You minion are too saucy! - The Two gentlemen of Verona)

Another important figure is Leonardo Da Vinci. He designed flying machines, a diving suit, a parachute, a machine gun and much more. Although he did not have the resources at the time to make all his designs, he influenced the future's inventors to bring his visions and ideas to reality.

As you can see, there are many figures that make the Renaissance a significant period in terms of development of thinking and ideas.  Through the Renaissance, we were able to make a foundation of logical thinking and theories of the universe, remove the ignorance of knowledge and invent new and helpful machinery. The Renaissance marked end of one of history's old and medieval chapters and heralded a new era full of reasoning and experimentation.
